Our Specialist School Status is Business & Enterprise
As a specialist school our overall aim is to:
- Raise attainment for all students in the specialist subjects and across the whole curriculum
- Strengthen and develop the quality of teaching and learning strategies in the specialist subjects and use them to help raise standards throughout the school
- Extend opportunities for vocational learning and enrichment
- Develop within the school, characteristics which signal its specialist ethos and identity
- Work collaboratively with partner schools, as well as local, national and international communities to broaden students’ educational experience

As a Business & Enterprise School we will transform the education experience of all our students, by:
- Improving teaching and learning in the specialist subjects, supporting high standards of achievement across the whole school
- Developing students Personal Learning, Thinking & Enterprise Skills (PLTES)
- Building on the unique international character of Woodside High School
- Continuing the development of the use of leading-edge ICT as a leading tool across the curriculum
- Extending the range of courses and qualifications available to students from age 14
- Providing high quality training for all our staff
Examples of some of the activities in which Woodside has been involved:
- Working with primary and secondary schools to develop their enterprise capabilities
- Competing in regional and national enterprise Masterclasses and debating competitions
- Inviting entrepreneurs and companies eg. HSBC into school to work with students
- One week work experience placement for Year 10 students
- Annual Fashion show organised by the creative departments
- Annual Enterprise days of activities
- Students setting up and running a small company and a school bank
- Producing Business & Enterprise newsletter articles
