Introduction - The B&E Specialist School Status
As a specialist school our overall aim is to:
- Raise attainment for all students both in the specialist subjects and across the whole curriculum
- Strengthen and develop the quality of teaching and learning strategies in the specialist subjects and use them to help raise standards throughout the school
- Extend opportunities for vocational learning and enrichment activity
- Develop within the school, characteristics which signal its specialist ethos and identity which are reflected in the school’s mission and objectives
- Work collaboratively with partner school, local, national and international communities to broaden students’ educational experience
Examples of some of the activities we have been involved in;
- Work with primary and secondary schools to develop their enterprise capabilities
- Competing in regional and national enterprise Master classes and debating competitions
- Inviting entrepreneurs and companies e.g. HSBC into school to work with students
- A two week work experience placement for Year 10 students
- Annual Fashion show organised by creative departments
- Annual Enterprise Week of activities
- Students setting up and running a small company and a school bank
- Producing a termly B&E newsletter
